With the suspension of face to face teaching at NESCol this week, we’re focussed on what we can do keep supporting you towards successful completion of your qualification.
Fortunately, there’s a lot that we can do with technology to mitigate some of the challenges and keep as much as possible running as normally.
Your lecturers are working hard to make sure that they can deliver as much teaching to you as possible remotely. It’s really important that you go on to Blackboard to access these materials. While there are some practical aspects of the course that we will need to find alternative ways to assess, there is no reason that you cannot successfully complete the theory element and any online assessments.
The details of how to log on are below but I’ve also attached a step by step guide which explains how to access systems as a student. You will also have access to Office 365 with these log on details.
Logging in as a student
To log into your email and other office365 applications, as well as Blackboard and MyNESCol you will need your student number and password.
The first time you log into a college system you will need to enter your student number and your initial password. your initial password will be in this format:
- Uppercase first letter of your forename
- Lowercase first letter of your surname
- Date of Birth DDMMYY
For example John Smith with a date of birth 20/07/2002 will have a password of Js200702
Your email address is be ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’ for example: email@example.com and is used for all communications while you are at college.
If you are having issues logging on yo may need to contact the helpdesk team at NESCol.
We will still accept expense claims for travel associated with the Foundation Apprenticeship.
If you need to make a claim, please complete the expense claim form as usual and then send it back to either Lynn or myself.
We can accept it as an email attachment, a photo or a scan. If sending as an attachment there is no need to sign as we can accept your email address as confirmation of the claim. If you are travelling by bus or train please take a photo of your tickets and attach this to the email – please keep the originals as we may need them.
Things are changing quickly but we’ll do our best to keep you up to date.
Lynn and Karen, Foundation Apprenticeship Officers are both available by email or mobile during normal working hours so please let us know if you have any questions.
Please be advised that all Foundation Apprenticeship pupils should have been sent this email directly to their student emails accounts. If they have any questions about continued delivery they should access Blackboard for further information.
For School Links pupils – you should access Blackboard for continued course delivery information as well, using the same Blackboard Log in instructions.
